If you host multiple websites in the exact same account and one of them is hacked, it's very likely that all of them will get hacked after that. There're various reasons why this may happen, the two most common are: using very weak passwords or using older scripts with known weaknesses. In this way, one single compromised site will do a lot of damage to all of your Internet sites, since gaining access to one script usually allows hackers to access the whole hosting account. This is the reason why we have developed a new security option called JailHost. Once turned on, this option will literally lock a site in its folder, so if an attacker takes over it, the remaining websites in the account will remain hidden. Thus they'll be shielded from further intrusion. The JailHost option doesn't imply that you should not keep your websites up-to-date, but it'll greatly reduce the damage.

JailHost in Website Hosting

In case you host your websites in a website hosting account from our company, you could protect them by using the JailHost option with just a few mouse clicks inside your Hepsia Control Panel. The option is provided with all plans and can be enabled for any folder since the domains and subdomains in Hepsia have individual folders, so that files for various Internet sites don't get mixed up like it frequently happens with other Control Panels. We have not activated JailHost by default because you could use scripts which need access to folders outside the primary website folder and this option could interfere with their proper operation, but securing all of the other folders is really easy. If any secured site gets hacked for whatever reason, we can restore it without delay because we will have multiple daily backups of your entire account and you will even be able to browse the available backups in Hepsia.

JailHost in Semi-dedicated Servers

JailHost comes with all of our semi-dedicated server solutions and you could activate it with a few clicks. It is not enabled by default as we do not want to prevent some scripts that need to gain access to multiple folders in your account from working properly. You'll be able to enable JailHost for all other Internet sites that you have from the Hepsia Control Panel and this can be done quickly even if you have no previous experience. What enables us to offer JailHost is the way in which Hepsia handles multiple domains - they all have individual folders which can be "locked". In contrast, other popular Control Panels feature add-on domains and the content of the latter is stored in the main domain folder, so if a single website is hacked, the whole account is hacked, that isn't the case with Hepsia. If a site gets damaged despite your efforts, we will be able to recover it the way it was right away because we will store a few daily backup copies of the whole account.
