SPF, which abbreviates Sender Policy Framework, is a certification system that aims at preventing the so-called email faking. Essentially, it indicates sending some message from one e-mail and making it seem to be sent from another one with the idea to scam in some way the individual getting it. If the SPF protection is active for a domain, a record which contains all mail servers authorized to send messages with addresses within the domain is created. The record is placed on all DNS servers that route the Internet traffic all over the world, thus they all can identify whether an e-mail message comes from a trustworthy server or not. The verification is conducted at the first server where the e-mail goes through and in the first case the message is forwarded, while in the second it's removed and it never gets to the intended recipient. Applying SPF records for your domain names will prevent all unwanted people from using your emails for malicious purposes.

SPF Protection in Website Hosting

When you host your domain names in a website hosting account on our end and we manage the e-mail addresses for them, you will be able to enable SPF protection for any of them with several clicks inside your Hepsia Control Panel. The service is accessible in a separate section where you're able to see which domains are currently secured. For those that aren't, you will be able to enable the SPF protection option and configure various things in the process - the hostnames of the mail servers that are allowed to send messages from your emails, the IPv4 and IPv6 addresses of these servers, as well as to set a rule that messages can be sent only when your domains include our MX records. The aforementioned option is the most secure one, and you can use it in the event that we take care of the emails for your domains and you are not using another e-mail provider. The new records will be activated within one day and nobody will be able to fake the FROM field in an email using your email addresses.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers

The Hepsia hosting Control Panel, which is included with our semi-dedicated service, will provide you with an exceptionally user-friendly interface to activate the SPF security service for each domain that you host inside your new account. A few clicks in the Emails section of Hepsia are enough for that then you will only have to type in the hostname and the IP address of the mail server that will be permitted to send out messages from your email addresses. When the e-mails are handled on our end and not by another supplier, you can increase the security level even more and enable an option for the outgoing emails to be sent only if your domains use our MX records. This option provides you with better control and it'll eliminate any chance of anybody forging your e-mail addresses with the purpose of spamming and / or scamming people. It's not applicable if only your website is hosted on our cutting-edge cloud hosting platform, while your e-mails are handled by some other provider. If you aren't sure what options to pick, our tech support team will assist you 24/7.
